TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

I have been asked to copy a layouts track plan, or rather design the turnouts, there are a pair of turnouts which are overlaid with each other, similar to a Barry slip but its not a slip

Its a bit untidy but good enough for me to build, providing that I have not made any major errors

Can anyone see any faults with it please
Does the formation have a name

I am not too bothered with the sidings as they can be altered to suite

Thanks

Are you sure you attached the right file? This looks like an ordinary crossover to me, definitely not a slip, Barry or otherwise. Or have I missed something?
Edit : Doh! I did miss something, hadn't realised just how many 'pages' there were and hadn't scrolled through them all - so please ignore this reply! But a box file might have been clearer.

Hi John,

I call that formation an Outside Barry Slip, or maybe a Barry Outside Slip. :)

Because the switches are outside the V-crossings. More about it here:

https://85a.uk/templot/archive/topics/topic_3604.php

I can't see any problems with it. If you post your BOX file I will tidy up the rail conflicts through the V-crossings for you.

p.s. Stuart, it's a multi-page PDF file, are you looking at the right pages?

cheers,

Martin.

@Hayfield

p.s. John,

If you use the SHIFT+CTRL+F10 mouse action, you can move the printer page outlines for a better fit of the templates on the pages.

If you are exporting a PDF, click this first:

cheers,

Thanks for all the replies

Martin I have made a revision, as the outside Barry slip needed moving closer to the turnout before it attached photos show this, also I have added a boxfile, as it seems I attached an incorrect file.

As I said I moved the Barry outside slip nearer the first turnout, I then changed the track centres of the crossover and there is a bit of a dog leg but this will be made from flexitrack so it will be ironed out

Thanks for the offer of tidying it up as it will aid building it and might also assist others, this is well beyond my pay grade

John
