again the ruler, sorry

It would be nice if you do ----> show ruler:
That there will be a separate menu that would allow you to "shift and join" like function.
And most important that the menu will stay until you close the menu, this could be very welcome for the mouse actions, so you dont have to start all over in the menus again.

Maybe even with a mouse click to give it a starting point? and than with the other mouse click <hold> to extend or shorten?
This function would be most welcome for me (Amsterdam cs station build is started)
The ruler is a very handy and a very welcome tool but ooo so underestimated and so handy.

I hope you understand a bit of my jibberjat, dont get me wrong i love the program, but the ruler could use some improvement, to make things a bit quicker and more easier.
You designed a heck of a program, incl scanning drawings and scale them up and down, ect

Thanks for reading some of my thoughts.
With best regards Igor K

Hi Igor,

Thanks for your thoughts. :)

Setting the ends of the ruler with a mouse click is easy:

utils > show ruler, then

1. Hold down the ALT key and left-button-click the mouse to set one end of the ruler at the mouse.

2. Hold down the ALT key and right-button-click the mouse to set the other end of the ruler at the mouse.

If you press CTRL+FULL STOP ( CTRL+PERIOD , CTRL+DOT ) the mouse pointer will change to cross-hairs for more accurate positioning.

Sorry, you have lost me with your other comments. :( Are you talking about the ruler or the track templates? You can start a template with a mouse click and draw it to the length you want, and/or join it to existing templates, using draw new and make function, which I added recently:

index.php

After which you can insert a turnout in it. You could create an entire track plan this way if you prefer it to the usual way of working.

Here is a short video clip showing the new function being used:

I was not asking questions about this, i apologise for this mishap, in fact i was trying to give some English compliments(big fail)
I am beginning to get quit handy with Templot.

With the ruler i can do what ever i want, thank you for you replay.
This saved me so much time that the laptop is coming with me in the garden to outline the track bed! with a measure ribbon.

In 2018 somewhere someone opted the idea to calculate the total amount of track that is in place in the box file.
Did you succeed?

Thanks again for this great program (y)

With best regards Igor
