TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

I can finally report that the entire content of the old Templot Club forum is now available on the UK server in a searchable archive:

https://85a.uk/templot/archive/

It has taken me 3 months to get here, and at times I was losing the will to live. :(

All the old stuff is on there -- over 3,400 topics and more than 7,000 images.

The search engine is reporting about 2 dozen broken links. I will get them fixed in due course and also tidy up the search results page and results highlighting. But just now I'm going to go and lie down.

Please let me know if you find anything obviously amiss.

Eventually I want to go through it and remove stuff which is not worth keeping, and update some stuff which is out of date, and get it indexed in the Companion.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Martin,
It's working fine.
I've just searched for a question I asked in December 2007 about milling crossing vee's.
Reading that has just brought back some memories :)

Much appreciated Martin, many thanks.

David

p.s Although I didn't watch the broadcast live, I also much appreciated your demonstration video. I found the voiced demonstration easier to follow than say, having to click through images etc. I particularly liked the fact that you also had to think about things such as where to find various commands.

There is now an option to see the full list of archived topics:

https://85a.uk/templot/archive/topics/topic_list.php -- it's a long list

Links added to the archive page at:

Hi Martin,
The full list of topics on the old forum is very good. It enabled me to find a topic from a long time ago that I was having trouble finding. Thanks for taking the time to do this work.

I know you recently posted a list of Templot videos ( in response to my dealings with my non-internet friend who later was permitted to hack into a neighbour's WiFi ) - is that list still complete including the videos that are linked from the old forum posts ?

@Guinea_Pig_Tester

Hi Rob,

If you mean this page:

https://85a.uk/templot/companion/online_video_list.php

I think it is up to date apart from one recent video. The videos are on FlashbackConnect so the links work from either forum or from the archive.

Also the Twitch live demo is not on there yet. The demos have their own page at:

https://85a.uk/templot/companion/live_screen_archive.php

The two ought to be integrated in some way.

If you mean this page:

https://85a.uk/templot/companion/video_list.php

no, it's in an unfinished muddle and needs a revamp.

In addition, there is a very large number of old TechSmith SWF Flash videos in both Cantasia and Jing format. Somewhere in the archive there is a list of them. I don't know whether the Jing links still work, but even if they do, as far as I know only Internet Explorer will still play SWF Flash video. All the component AVI files should still be on my backup drives, and could in theory be imported into new FBR videos for flashbackConnect. But most of them are so out-of-date for Templot2 that I'm not sure the work would be worth it.

Always so much to think about. :(

Glad you are finding the archive useful.

cheers,

Martin.

Thanks Martin,

The first page you mention is the one I was asking about.

You wouldn't think the list of archived posts on Templot would include sources for animal skins  - just to prove I have read through some of the old ones ( A chap was asking about binding copies of MRJ magazine hence the topic swung round to bookbinders! )

Thanks for your reply.

@Guinea_Pig_Tester

Hi Rob,

I forgot to mention another list of old videos, see:

https://85a.uk/templot/martweb/old_videos/

You will probably see annoying scrollbars on them in current versions of Windows, which is down to a bug in the Camtasia wrapper.

Please read and heed the note at the top of the page. These videos are old-old-old. :(

cheers,

Martin.
