Basic Outline for 3-D

Hi Martin,

For those of us daft enough to muck about with 3-D printers (well me anyway :) ) at some point in the future might it be possible for Templot to export a 2-D DXF of the control template that looks something like this?

The salient features are the the timber outlines, their center-lines and the gauge faces of the rails and check rails. They need only be on a single layer.

Cheers!
Andy

Hi Andy,

That's already possible, and has been since the beginning of time. Or am I missing something?

Well not of the control template exactly, you must store it first. But that's only one click.

You can have the gauge-face of the rails, or the outer-edges, or the centre-line of the rails. Or any combination thereof if you store multiple copies of the template. Likewise if you want to omit one or more of the rails, or shorten one or more of them.

If you are asking for it all to be in a single DXF layer, you could do that by re-importing the DXF into the background shapes, and then exporting it again. But any CAD program should be able to merge layers.

If you mean you want Templot itself to create the 3D view, sorry no that's not possible. You must do that in a CAD program after importing the DXF.

cheers,

Martin.

Just a suggestion. Please do not worry about it.

Hi Andy,

I'm not worrying about it!

But what is your suggestion? Do you want to do it with a single click? I could add that to the generator menu. It's not significantly different from the skeleton settings option.

I will make a bit of video shortly showing how to export what you want.

cheers,

Martin.

p.s. Andy. You can include the generator settings in the program preferences, if that is what you are asking for. Keep them in a separate SK1 file to avoid getting in a muddle.

Martin.
