  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Bug in the group menu

Hi Martin,
Thanks for the update. The new function may be quite useful and as you say would get a new user up and running - providing they know to click it!

I do however get a slightly odd menu as here :

I don't remember seeing this before - maybe you know otherwise ? The line through 'hide group....' goes away once you move the mouse down past it.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for posting. That happens only on Windows7 -- It's a long-standing bug.

(and also on Windows10 if you change to the XP style setting at program panel > program > menu style >)

It's a bug in Delphi5 in mbBarBreak on the top-level TMenuItems. Notice that even on Windows10, all TMenuItems with an mbBarBreak appear in the XP style regardless:

Notice the difference in the selection style (white text) and the bullet style, between the top-level menu and the sub-menu.

(I much prefer the XP style and usually remember to change to it for all the menus before making screenshots and videos.)

I haven't found any fix for the bug, other than to work around it by re-arranging the entire group menu as sub-menus. Which I could do and probably should do. But then every past screenshot and video will be invalidated, and I don't have the energy to remake them all.

I used to assume that if I re-arrange the menus, folks would just hunt around until they find what they want. But it seems that's no longer the case.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Rob,

I have now removed the BarBreak from the long group menu and re-arranged it as sub-menus:

As a result it now appears in the Windows10 style (unless you change to the XP style setting at program panel > program > menu style > ).

Will be in the next program update.

cheers,

Martin.
