TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Construction symbol ID hidden

Hi Martin

A small point - on a construction symbol, any platforms (or parapets) can obscure the ID text. There's a numbering over platforms option for timber numbering so I guess the same might be needed for symbol text. The same applies to trackbed edges although timber numbers are on top of those. In the meantime, I've just used a smaller symbol so they don't overlap the platforms!

I'm using the ID text as the wire numbers for droppers, so they do need to be visible on a printout.

Cheers,
Paul

Thanks Paul. Sorry about that.

I will look at an option to put the droppers above the rails. Or at least the ID text. The gaps already are.

In the meantime, a fix would be (output menu):

cheers,

Martin.

p.s. Or alternatively Paul, if you are printing solely a wiring record, you could switch off the platforms entirely:

Hi Paul,

This is now fixed in 227c. The ID text for the droppers is above the rails and platforms. :)

cheers,

Martin.
