Gauge O Guild, "An Evening With..."

Quick reply >
Over the last few of years I have been involved with the Guild's "An Evening With..." seminars and have so far presented three of these on Templot. However, I am looking for a willing volunteer to step forward and cover the latest developments with Plug Track and COT, especially as Templot 5 is now available. Martin has joined in the previous sessions we have hosted and supported the evening with help and advice, but it would be good to have someone who has made some Plug or COT track to promote it across a wider audience.

The seminars take place on the 26th of each month, except December, starting at 8pm (GMT or BST) and last between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on how involved the topics are on the night. Each one is currently carried out via Zoom and is recorded so that those unable to attend can watch at a later date. The reordings are uploaded to YouTube and go "Public" the day of the following month's seminar.

An example of a previous session can be viewed here:

If anyone feels like this is something they would like to help out with, then please contact me at aew@gaugeoguild.com

We have firmed up our holiday dates and I can now be available for the show in Bingley if needed

I will have a 7mm test track operating by April and am at the moment building a Plug track turnout, so can have 7mm items available to handle

As for an evening with I am very technology challenged but happy to chat about my 7mm 3D track building experiences, but would only be happy to chat about my own experiences with Plug & COT track building, the practicable building & printing side rather than technical aspects
John,

Do you mean Guildex at Stafford ?

As for "An Evening With..." that is exactly what would work for the session. No doubt Martin will take part as well, and I'll be the host for the session. Could you do 26th August ? Of course any other Temploteers working with Plug/COT are welcome too.

I am happy to assist where I can, as I badly replied.

The September (Bingley ?) show now does not clash with our holiday (2 dates were available and there was enough room for us on the trip starting mid month). So if invited I am happy to be part of the team at the show, I am printing and building in 7mm gauge and can bring 7mm COT & Plug samples including a test track, FDM printer to demonstrate printing and a lap top for Templot Demonstrations. Basically what James and I did at Scaleforum

As for "an Evening with" in August, I am happy with the practical aspects of 3D Templot (design, printing and assembly) using COT track, ( I am getting to grips with building 7mm plug track at the moment). As for technology I try to do as I am told though certainly not the best when very technical questions regarding programming etc is concerned

Hi Phil,

Dave may well have had enough demonstrators booked for the show, which is unfortunate.
Another option is the Kempton Park show in June. The contact there is summershowmanager@gaugeoguild.com which is Alan Neale, who used to be one of the organisers for the Bristol O Gauge Group show.

Has anyone reached out to Steve Robinson about Guildex ?

Ian

I have sent an email to Alan Neale.

Hi Ian,

I've not received a reply from Alan so far.

Gents,

I've had a chat with Steve Robonson this week, and I can confirm he is very keen for there to be a Templot demonstrator(s) at Guildex 2025. I think it would be beneficial to have someone showing how Templot works, from the point of view of an introduction/first steps to the product and a second person to show how it is currently progressing with 3D Plug/COT. This should hopefully allay any fears that it is simple to just dive straight into Templot 5 and expect results first time.

Steve can be contacted at: showmanagerautumn@gaugeoguild.com

Kind Regards,

Ian
Gents

Firstly, do we have an invitation to the show? If so how many would they cater for

Secondly, if we do have an invitation should we not be getting a team together ? and if so who?

The Gauge 0 Guild are holding a "Virtual Exhibition" on Saturday 1st February. This is an all-day online event with videos and live demonstrations:

https://www.gaugeoguild.com/events/guild_shows.aspx?id=28

That's in less than a fortnight's time, so it's too late to be included in the formal programme. But it might be possible to do a live Templot "thing" at the same time. Equivalent to something happening in the virtual car park. :)

Not sure exactly what or how. My Zoom account allows up to 100 participants, so perhaps we could have an "open house" Zoom meeting and invite anyone visiting the virtual show to join us for a while?

Martin.

Martin,

We have a meeting tonight and I'll ask the question about a live Templot session. I believe there may be some availability in the afternoon, but will confirm as soon as I can.

All,

There is space within the timetable for a session between 15:45 and 16:45 if anyone would like to do an introduction to Plug 3D/COT for non-Templot users.

Ian,

As much as I would like to, I'm not available during that time frame. Also I don't know how it would work as I use my tablet for Zoom meetings and although I have not tried to download it onto the tablet, I doubt very much whether it would work, as the OSis Android.
