TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Since the introduction of J chairs on the new C&L sprues I have been trying to find out when these were introduced, according to Phil at C&L as far as he is aware they came in when the REA standards were introduced in the 30's

However in David Smith's GWR switch and crossing practice they are not mentioned at all, I spoke with Phil about this and he said the drawing he used came from Paddington in the 40's (his main computer is away having the data transfered to a new one

Can anyone enlighten me please

John

Hi John,

The GWR 2-bolt joint chairs are on Padd dwg R.3798, dated Nov. 1948. It's on the Scalefour Soc website, or I can scan it later if needed.

Only used with BS-95R rail. I can't find a joint chair for the GWR 00 (1900) rail. As far as I know not used within GWR pointwork.

Just now the sun has come out for the first time in days, so I'm off for a walk. :)

cheers,

Martin.
