Has anyone tried to create or 'fudged' early GWR BH switch chairs? I have been asked to create some plug track chairs for some old-type 10 ft. switches and I'm going to try and substitute the missing switch chairs in the current Templot output with REA size B chairs. But, before I do this I thought I would ask the Templot Forum whether this has already been done or if there is a better way?

Hi Terry,

I suggest you overlay a 9ft straight switch rather than a B switch (the first 3 sizes of straight switch are supported in plug track -- but using REA-style chairs).

Then shove the switch timbers into positions over the GWR timbers. If you hide the 9ft timber outlines, the GWR timbers will capture the chairs and sockets from them.

But note that this will give you an undercut switch. If you want a GWR straightcut (joggled) switch, you will need to modify the P chairs accordingly. Some gentle filing of the P chairs in position might be enough.

Note also that the Templot switch filing jigs are for undercut switches, not straightcut.

If you print a batch of the P chairs with the bolts switched off (in the layers tab) you might be able to file the GWR semi-circular ends onto the P chairs and add separate 2 bolt heads from a tiny bit of something:
