TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Cous for my new layout due to the making of some really big loco's i need to change/add from 3 meter radii to 4.60 meter radii(especially the aa20)
Still did not figured this one out, i am open for all thoughts and hints.
Many thanks in advance
Whit best regards Igor

Edit reason: i deleted the box file because it was pretty chaotic and to much, sorry for the inconvenience.

Sorry i will post a less chaotic box file "bochtwerk in de kleine hoek", with more accurate track work.
With best regards Igor.
But the first one i can not figure that one out how to do that or even what it is called?
A double crossover?

With best regards Igor

Hi Igor,

I found it difficult to understand what you were trying to do.

When you say you don't know what it's called, which part of it did you mean? If you mean this formation, it is called a "scissors crossover" in the UK:

It's an amazing piece of work. After seing that, I'm itching to get back to my 3D printer. :)

UK scissors:

Martin.

Thank you for your replay Martin.
Yes you are right, this was the name i was looking for.
I made this scissors in templot with combining 2 crossovers in 7:50/4,60 radii
But i failed to connect/make the actual crossing in the middle in Templot.
I think i must work with the "ladder" option.

Thanks

Hi Igor,

There are some notes about creating scissors crossovers here:

and:

cheers,

Sorry i will post a less chaotic box file "bochtwerk in de kleine hoek", with more accurate track work.
I finished/corrected my file "bochtwerk in de kleine hoek" (freely translated: curve work in the small corner.)
It called more appropriate for this site: upper corner.
The two things i still can not do is make those scissors crossings and a y turnout.
In the box file you will see what i mean.
I thought i did a y turnout.
I think also i need to practice some more or i am doing something wrong with the giving links from Martin regarding the scissor crossings.
Small note about this box file:
You will see some track work that does not make any sense, those squires are for the foundation of the scaffolding to trim the hedge.
The long pieces are basically the hedge.

Thanks in advance and with best regards Igor K
Stay safe you all, that is a order

I am working on a thing or two for the 3d part, if you want i can keep you posted on some developments?
Dont expect a program from me, but more bits and pieces.
Suitable for a lot of scales.
Why? simple, i like to have fun!

Regarding the work, i will keep you busy, i have some real nice things in my head regarding the Amsterdam cs in 1932 according to the drawing and some pictures...
Regarding excellent work, things that they (what i think) would not apply irl or at least in some "fiddle yards?" i am going to apply in the small garden shed, mainly due to shortish of space and the connection to the garden railroad, it will be very complecs, nothing Templot can not handle btw
Some forum member mentioned a "tressel?" I thank him again!

Yes it is getting clear in my head, what i want and how i would like it.
Thanks for reading.

Cheers
