TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

I keep an eye on eBay (something us oldies do) and am always interested in track building lots, well whilst I never actually wanted it owing to the starting price, I kept track of it

Well it started off at £120 and finished at £182. The star was the Studiolith punch and rivet press set complete with both tools, the rest as far as I can see is run of the mill but still not cheap.

I have a good idea as to who bought it (not me), but at these rates (I have 2 mk1/2 units plus a mk3 and more gauges than I want to own up too along with a healthy stash of parts) I think I need to buy a lockable cupboard to keep them in.

Sorry about a lack of photos

Actually, having had a look through all there was in the job lot, I don't think that was a bad price.

Tony.

I would say that's not a bad price, looking at the what you get! I did spot the little dig about the "secret" Scalefour stores though! There seem to be a couple of items added to my watch list for further consideration now...

The dig was from a non railway modeller, probably out of frustration of not being able to find prices.

But you do not sell the presses anymore, MJT whitemetal chairs are no longer made. Quality plans are now freely available (Templot) with an infinite range available. Agreed buying new the gauges and parts buying new will add up to a bit, but usually on eBay these items do come up at very reasonable rates

The main item and its tools could have been advertised better, The thing that may have been of value was perhaps an older style of rail ?, or a typo ?

Anyway well done to the buyer in getting a good price for his dads tools and track parts. Its certainly raised the bar and we might see a few more modellers look to cash in on similar items.
