TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

P4 wheels on EM Track

Quick reply >

Hello Martin,
I have just showed my inability to use any of the search functions effectively :(

I was trying to find your comments concerning the use of P4 profile wheels on EM ( EM-SF in my case ) track but couldn't locate anything. I remember you saying that there could be issues with wheel drop at the crossings due to the reduced width of the tyres but is there likely to be any other issues ?

I have several loco conversions to do where I am finding it difficult to maintain any space between the leading crankpin and the crosshead.

Thanks
Rob

Hi Rob,

Here are your previous topics discussing this: :)

See also this more recent topic on RMweb:

p.s. For searching, use the full online Search at the top-right of this page. Put "EM-SF" in quotes, otherwise the dash creates two separate words. I searched for

"EM-SF" P4

which returns these results:

https://85a.uk/templot/search/searc..._query="EM-SF"+P4&zoom_per_page=20&zoom_and=1

cheers,

Martin.
