    For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

    The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

    Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

I would like to know if you can choose the distance between the tracks when you choose parallel V-crossing or does it always set the distance as a default setting. I look forward to any replies on this.

Hi Thomas,
I'm not sure I understand the question so forgive me if I have, but is this the control you're after?

Or are you creating the crossover by using the parallel V crossing option under 'REAL' to create the 'return' curve as a basis for the second turnout. If so, then I'm afraid I can't help you as I've only ever used the on-screen 'crossover' button.

Best,
James

Hi Thomas,

The track spacing for a parallel-type V-crossing matches the current turnout-side (TS) adjacent track centres. You set it here, as James describes:

You can change it before or after setting the parallel V-crossing.

You can also change it by mouse action and adjust it manually by eye:

That's SHIFT+CTRL+F11 on the keyboard, or at:

Every template has its own adjacent track centres - remember to change it back for the next one if necessary.

cheers,

Martin.

@Paratom

p.s. Thomas,

The plug track chairing is not yet done for the return-curve part of a parallel V-crossing.

But as it's plain track, you could do it using a length of plain track printed using the FDM flexi-track option for the timbering base. Align it over the printed paper template when laying the track.

Martin.

Thanks Martin for your reply. I can't praise you enough for the fantastic work you have done on Templot. I purchased Templot many years ago and would like to make another donation. Can't find where I can make a donation on the website. Please let me know where I can find this.

@Paratom

Hi Thomas,

Many thanks for your kind words. If you previously purchased the paid-for version of Templot (before 2011) there is no need to make a donation, because free upgrades were part of the deal. :)

But if you wish you can make a donation to the funds at:

https://85a.uk/templot/templot_donate.php

Click the orange button for a one-off donation, or the green button for a small regular donation.

(Please don't use the orange button for a recurring donation because for some reason it doesn't work.)

Thanks again,

Martin.
