TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

I have now enabled the "Push" notifications from Templot Club.

This means that in addition to seeing red alerts on the Club pages and/or receiving email notifications for new posts, watched forums, etc., a message box can pop up at the bottom of your screen whenever there is a new notification sent.

The big difference is that it pops up automatically, it is not necessary to refresh the web page, or even to be viewing Templot Club at the time. All that is needed is that Templot Club is open in one of your browser tabs, and you are logged in on there.

On busy sites this could get very annoying, but on Templot Club there is usually an hour or two between any activity. So having such a pop-up might be handy while you are working in Templot, in not needing to remember to go back and refresh the Club pages or look at your email.

At the bottom of your screen you should now be seeing this message:

push_notifications.png

If you click the link, you should then see a message from your browser asking you to allow notifications from the 85a.uk web site, or not allow. After which you should no longer see the above link. You can continue to control whether or not to receive Push notifications via your user account Preferences.

cheers,

Martin.

Hello Martin,

"Push Notifications" work fine. I will probably turn them back off though as having Gmail desktop notifications turned on means I get a little pop-up message each time I get an email anyway.

Hi Martin,

Not that it's any real problem, but the first time I visit the forum each day on my tablet I get asked to sign up for push, this doesn't happen on my laptop. On the tablet I'm using Android and Firefox and the laptop is Win 10 and Firefox.

Hi Phil,

On Android change the setting at Settings > Notifications > Firefox.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

Many thanks, I have finally managed to get it sorted, with the problem only being when I first use the tablet it has taken me a couple of days to get here.

Thanks
