TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

    For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

    The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

    Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Saving Preferences

Quick reply >
Hi All
I have just installed a clean copy of Templot 2.26f. I cleaned out all the previous versions by moving them into a folder called, "Templot_Old".
The new install contains nothing except a single piece of track that was the one that Templot loads on start up.
I have had several attempts at, "Saving Preferences", but no matter what I do, I can't create a preference file.
I start Templot and on the Program Panel I click on preferences and select the only option in bold, "begin saving preferences". The option, "update preferences on quit", is ticked and greyed out.

Help

Thank you

@Godders

Hi Godders,

After begin saving preferences you should see this. Click the save preferences link to start:

It may not be obvious that all the blue links on that page are clickable. Changing them to buttons is on my to-do list, but I haven't got round to it yet.

cheers,

Martin.

Thank you Martin, it's the Old Age you know, I am going to seed.
@Godders

I'm right behind you. :)

Here's a clue which isn't always obvious -- the menu item has an ellipsis (3 dots):

In Windows-speak, that means you will need to do something more (click a button, make a setting) before anything will actually change.

If there is no ellipsis, clicking the button or menu item should be sufficient by itself to change something.

I can't guarantee that I have got this right on every single button and menu item -- reports of any I have got wrong welcome. On some recent new menus I have taken to putting spaces between the dots to make them more obvious.

cheers,

Martin.
