Hi,
Trying to use a new printer, problem is Templot keeps trying to insist on Letter size rather than A4. All other programs are happy to do this but not Templot

Using a different printer (Epson WF2010) I was able to print a user defined page A4 width but 1100 mm in length, so am thinking it must be something about the HP printer, which they both don't like each other, so I will stick with the Epson for Templot. I only really got the HP one as it had a scanner built in and my old scanner gave up the ghost.

Hi Stephen,

Templot doesn't insist on anything. It asks the printer what paper size it is set for.

If you click the printer setup... menu item, Templot will display the Windows control panel for the printer:

Make sure to set the correct printer, before changing the paper size.

If no joy, you will need to change the paper size via the Properties button. Make sure you have set the correct printer first.

All this is Windows stuff, it is nothing to do with Templot. When you want to print, Templot asks the printer for its current settings.

I was able to print a user defined page A4 width but 1100 mm in length

If you set a paper size which it can't print, it may revert to its default setting instead, which is usually US Letter size.

cheers,

Martin.

Hi Martin,
I was only trying to set it to A4, which is its normal default, instead it insisted on Letter no matter how many times I changed it. Obviously a "feature" of this HP printer. Epson printer no problem.

Yes, it's HP. I can force my HP P1505 to A4 for one print job from my word processor but then it reverts to Letter. I think it's something to do with "Region" settings.

Normally the HP printer prints at A4 but not with Templot. The old Epson 1290S is one step away from the re-cycling centre, which is a pity but ity is quite old now and I can set the user-defined print option on the Epson WF2010 to its maximum length(1117mm) so I can live with that.

Hi Stephen,

Templot does absolutely nothing to control the printer paper size.

What you are seeing inside Templot is the Windows printer setup dialog. Templot does nothing to control any part of that, other than asking Windows to display it.

If it is not working properly, the fault is within Windows, not Templot.

cheers,

Martin.
