TEMPLOT 3D PLUG TRACK - To get up to speed with this experimental project click here.   To watch an introductory video click here.   See the User Guide at Bexhill West.

  • The Plug Track functions are experimental and still being developed. Some of the earlier pages of this topic are now out-of-date.

    For an updated overview of this project see this topic.   For some practical modelling aspects of using Plug Track see Building 3D Track.

    The assumption is that you have your own machines on which to experiment, or helpful friends with machines. Please do not send Templot files to commercial laser cutting or 3D printing firms while this project is still experimental, because the results are unpredictable and possibly wasteful.

    Some pages of this and other topics include contributions from members who are creating and posting their own CAD designs for 3D printing and laser-cutting. Do not confuse them with Templot's own exported CAD files. All files derived from Templot are © Martin Wynne.

Wont print!

Quick reply >
I want to print three A4 sheets to cover an 0 gauge turnout as a trial. I have calibrated the printer (it printed out the calibration sheets with no problems) and chosen the sheet to print but 30 minutes later, it still says 'Creating a preview file...(1 pages)' and underneath, rather cheekily asks me to 'Please wait for a few minutes!' The Printer manager says it is 'Spooling'. Any suggestions?

@Nick coppin

Hi Nick,

That message is from your printer, not from Templot.

However, if it printed the calibration pages ok, it should be able to print the template pages one at a time, at least.

If you used the print now! function, use the output > print menu items instead:

Select a page in the list, click the button for each page, followed by the yellow omit all remaining button. Very tedious.

Or try de-selecting the Preview option in the Printer Preferences, which might look like this (or might not):

p.s. don't forget to click this button, even if it is still showing the "please wait" message:

cheers,

Martin.
