There is a finer standard called EM-SF which uses 0.8mm flangeways, but very few modellers are currently using it (or have even heard of it). It runs EMGS and other kit wheels unmodified at existing back-to-backs. ... modelling. Ignore N. If you are modelling in 4mm/ft scale the obvious starting point is some 4mm/ft standard, and modify it to suit the wheels you are using. If the flanges are around 0.5mm- 0.6mm they would run quite nicely on EM-SF with 0.8mm flangeways. That's 18mm gauge, so if you just subtract 9mm from everything you get your 9mm gauge. That's not likely to cause a significant gauge error in 00 and EM, but it might do for EM-SF and P4. Increasing the shrinkage allowance should prevent that. On the 3D-printing web sites the suggestion is around 6%. So now the bottleneck moves from pressing chairs into sockets, to getting them cut from the raft and placed into the sockets. The pin-slotted chairs without the outer jaws are a bit more fiddly to handle than the chairs with solid jaws. ...
