... 13 Jan 2012 15:22 from: John Walker I have occasional access to an HP Designjet 755cm plotter. I am using the HP driver from here on Windows XP 32 bit SP3: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=uk&prodNameId=12666&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=25252&swLang=8 &taskId=135&swEnvOID=228 I installed HP DesignJet 755CM(C3198B)by HP. It is version 4.65. In Templot I set banner printing with 36in wide roll and height of 144in. When I print with 0.91c I get to choose which pages to print. However TDV 0.96a does not give me that choice (on a different PC but still XP 32 bit SP3). Am I misunderstanding something or is there a problem here? This behaviour was observed last time I was connected to the plotter. I am currently looking at the problem while disconnected posted: 13 Jan 2012 17:14 from: Martin Wynne John Walker wrote: In Templot I set banner ...

... topic: 1359 Background Picture Printing posted: 6 Feb 2011 17:33 from: John McCrea Hi Martin Just a quick question; more an observation really. As I've nearly completed my (Masokits based) turnouts for my new layout I decided to create a full size printout of the plan on banner paper. I've found a firm that will print my 156" x 36" plan full size at £16 for the first and £12 for subsequent pages so I proceeded to print to PDF from Templot v0.91c, initially using the Adobe PDF driver, then the free version of Win2PDF. The templates print fine in either program but the background scan will not print if 'Stretch' is selected. If I print using 'Dots' I get a PDF with the background showing but it is so large that neither Adobe Reader or the full version of Acrobat can fully open it. Details are as follows (questions borrowed from another thread): Which version of Windows are you using? XP, SP-3 How much memory do you have on your ...

... topic: 141 Add a .box file reference when printing posted: 25 Aug 2007 10:52 from: Peter Salathiel Hi Martin, I admit I am not a methodical worker but I just can't figure out the best way to keep my Templot .box files. My problem is that I "name" a printout, so that I know where it came from, but then forget to change it on the next printing. The only way that I can keep track of things is to move my "project name" AFTER the Templot time stamp. In other words all my Templot .box files are now identifed, and arranged in order chronoogically. A couple of questions: 1) What is the recommended method of keeping track of printouts and their associated .box files. I think I know the answer but it is all to easy to click "print" and finish up with the wrong name. 2) Any chance of making the default printout name the time stamp of the file? I admit that this problem occurs because I am using Templot ( ...

... topic: 224 Printing using an HP DJ 90r Printer with a roll feed option posted: 6 Nov 2007 23:56 from: Rextanka I hope this will be useful. This is the method I used to print out Fremington North on a HP DeskJet Printer with a roll feed option. This allows the print to be done on a single sheet if it's less than 18" wide and minimises the number of sheets needed. I hope this is useful to anyone with access to such a printer. My HP Printer is connected to an 802.1 (Ethernet) network via an HP JetDirect en3700 USB Network adapter. I made sure that I could print to this from my PC prior to starting this process. I also calibrated the printer with Templot and the roll paper installed in the printer, but with the paper size set to A4. ... topic: 1628 Canon PIXMA iP4300 Printer posted: 14 Sep 2011 01:52 from: Richard_Jones Hi Does anyone know if I can "fool" the printer to print out on a piece of "double length" A4- ie a piece of A3 cut down the centre of its long dimension, as this would probably be big enough for the largest of my single templates, without the expense of buying an A3 printer. Similarly is there anything I might need to "fiddle" in the Templot print settings? Any ideas (or different solutions?) best wishes Richard posted: 14 Sep 2011 06:49 from: Dave Summers Nothing needs to be fooled or fiddled. 'Tiling' of templates is taken care of automatically by Templot. A long template will be printed on two or more A4 sheets which will butt up perfectly to each other once the small margin is removed. Not too bad for only three templates on the page, but it strikes me there has got to be a better way. I got a new scanner today in the sales- it isn't easy these days to buy just a flatbed scanner without it having a printer attached which are far too bulky. Scans of model track plans are fine. I have been having mixed results when adding these files as picture shapes and then trying to print them. The first one I tried just printed the picture shape as a filled black rectangle so I though that maybe the image was too big for the printer memory and I reduced the scan dpi. This worked OK and the picture shape printed containing the scanned data. However I have just scanned another plan and whilst the file size is similar( same DPI) it printed as a black rectangle. Sizing the background image down resulted in a proper print being produced. Is this all down to printer memory or associated issues? The PC has 32GB of memory of which about 26GB ...

... topic: 1683 Problem with printing custom page size. posted: 10 Nov 2011 19:25 from: Tony W Hi Martin. I wonder if anyone else has come across this problem as it is a bit specialised. I have searched the forum without much success. I have an HP 1280 deskjet that allows the user to define custom paper sizes. I have cut some A1 paper lengthwise to produce what amounts to a double length A3 sheet. This is very useful for printing out longer sections of track. The paper size is defined as 300 x 840mm. Most of the time this works fine, the problem I have found seems to occur when a large area of the page to be printed contains no template. If the page starts with a template it will print this and then print a bit more of the page before producing an error message. If however the page starts printing from the blank edge then it will print about 300mm of the page and then produce an error message. See screen shot below. This is a problem I ...

This overrides the printer setting in the output menu: 2_131622_160000000.png The PDF and image file exports are new features in Templot2. Previously the output menu was called the print menu, and applied only to the printed output. It was renamed output for Templot2 but not all the settings in that menu can apply to all outputs. The big difference here is that the printer is a real-world physical device with a physical paper size and physical printable area. The PDF engine is not so constrained -- it can create a document of any size you care to enter. The task of rendering that on paper takes place in the PDF reader program and not in Templot. I have two templates joined together- the first is a straight length of trackwork (about 55" long) with a straight RH turnout about half way along the straight; the second is a transition curve connected to turnout as a siding. I'm transferring the file as a PDF (using PDF995) to my works computer via CD, so I can print it on a Roller Plotter (I'm selecting a paper size of 36" by 60" since there doesn't appear to be an option for roller paper in PDF995, and anyway anything bigger would probably be unwieldy). In Templot the Print Preview option shows the entire track plan. However, after conversion to PDF (the track plan just about runs onto a second paper sheet) only a straight section of trackwork upto the turnout plus a small section of turnout is coming up when the PDF file is opened- the rest of sheet one appears blank ...

... topic: 370 Save settings for printing posted: 16 Mar 2008 00:29 from: Simon Dunkley I am generally happy with the default settings for printing out whole templates, but I also like to use templot for layout design purposes, and print out to a much reduced scale, typically 1:16 or 1:20, to get an overall idea of how the scheme will look. When I do this, I do not want or need track centre lines, or timbers which are both easy to switch off, but I like to do things such as show the grid as a dotted black line, have the transition curve markers in white, background shapes (in my case, putative baseboard outlines) in black and so on. Many of these require repeated trips to the pint menu. Would it be possble to save the printing settings, with an option to restore all settings, so that I can simply re-load a file without having to go through several mouse clicks eah time?
