I'm quite pleased with the result. Its based on a plan from one of his newer books, (newer as in 1992). Although he advocates minimum radii of not below 2' on the scenic and not below 18" in the hidden fiddle yard, I've managed to create the plan, albeit using an extra 6" of baseboard, with the tightest curve being 28", with only a diverging point road away from the mainline of 26.6". The lower fiddle yard has an extra road yet all but one of the curves are above 30" with some up around 40". But since it is so quick to invert it back if required it has never occurred to me to be a problem. Just dab CTRL+ X and it's back how you wanted it. I'm not inclined to change it because that behaviour is well established and expected by experienced users. But it perhaps needs an explanatory note for beginners. Try holding down CTRL+ X for a few seconds on a curved turnout to see how quick and easy it is to invert the handing. After that you will probably not think it worth bothering to pre-set a specific hand before aligning. regards, Martin. posted: 7 May 2011 19:50 from: Brian Nicholls Hi Martin, Many thanks for the quick response. ... May 2011 20:49 from: Rob Manchester Hi Martin, I have the DEVELOPMENT VERSION installed as per your instructions, thanks for the release code. It starts up OK but I managed to crash the program within 5 minutes. The crash can be reproduced as follows :- With some templates in the storage box but nothing in control if you click 'clear all templates' the templates all go off the screen to be replaced by a small box saying 'Your storage box is empty <OK>' which flashes rapidly for a few seconds and the program shuts down. The happens regardless of whether you take the save or not save option. When you restart the program the Templatesare all there again plus it adds a template into control. Do the same to 'clear all templates' when there IS a control template and it clears all background templates and just leaves the control which is what I expected. I tried different numbers of templates and changed gauge/scale but it didn't help. Rob posted: 18 May 2011 22:02 from: Martin Wynne ...

Be warned that this is an improvised implementation in this TDV. It works by creating duplicate templates, so makes a big demand on memory and system resources. In the short term this is mainly to help those who need irregular diamonds to progress their layouts. But also I'm hoping that feedback from members of a "development group" will be a valuable help in filling the gaps. Unlike some software support forums, I very much do not want to create a "them and us" situation in Templot Club where a few members have access to "beta" versions and the majority don't. So this will be available to all members of Templot Club who want it. On the other hand, I must retain proper control over how my development code is used and by whom, so there will have to be some restrictions and hoops to jump through. An open download could turn into a support nightmare which would stop Templot development dead. I will write again in a day or two when I have set up the mechanisms and have a working ...

Here are the general notes: -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --- Setting Trim Margins Templot prints trim margins (normally in magenta-pink) around all four edges of each printed page comprising your template or track plan. Trimming is necessary because very few printers can print to the extreme edge of the sheet of paper, or position it with great accuracy before printing on it. By trimming each page along margin lines which are printed as part of the drawing image you are assured that the pages will fit together accurately. Templot normally sets the trim margins to use nearly all of the printable area on each page. However, because printers and paper sheet sizes vary, this usually means that the trimmed page dimensions are not round figures and do not match the printed grid lines ...
