I failed to make this clear in the notes. When the embedded browser appears it is important that its zoom setting is set to display images dot-for-dot. Otherwise Templot's size calculations for the screenshot will be wrong. This is the case when it first appears, but you need to take care not to change it. To zoom the map, make sure to use the+/- buttons on the map, or click on the map and then use the mouse wheel. That way the web site will receive the wheel activity and adjust the URL accordingly. Take care not to zoom the entire browser page by clicking off the map -- for example on the header section -- and then using Ctrl+ Wheel or the usual browser keyboard shortcuts for zooming. There is only one notch, so it doesn't present the same problem -- geometry> notch> reset notch on pad datum usually moves it out of the way. That should actually say grid datum, not pad datum. The NLS maps facility is non functional... presumably because mac doesn't run the correct browser. I have my track plan background within a cad programme with the NLS 25" map imported as an image and re scaled to the correct size. I have exported this as a series of jpgs (2100mm x 900mm) at 1:76.2 scale.... so when imported into templot they should come in at the rights size to scale. The drag and drop function doesn't work. I can import direct from file and it comes in to the background. It won't allow me to rescale (haven't checked if I need to or not). It won't save the image. Have you considered simply sticking the template to thick card and cutting out the pattern? It would then be easier to make several sizes and also have curved turnouts. It's a shame to hand build trackwork and not gain the full design flexibility it offers. If your printer has a straight feed path, you may be able to print the template directly on to thick card.
