On the attached Box file I am concerned that my turnouts won't have the clearance that should be 4.5'' (1.5mm) at the heel and stock rail. I created a new template, REA B-8 Left hand turnout 10 Chains Radius. I then changed the V Crossing angle to 1:9. I then did tools> make simple crossover. Then template> convert turnout to half-diamond. The check rails and gap that should be produced at the point where the two half diamonds would meet are not generated. ... -crossing angles are longer. Here are two turnouts to illustrate that: 2_231715_250000000.png The top one has a 1:4 V-crossing. The bottom one has a 1:10 V-crossing. The easy way to change between these and other sizes in-between is to use the F5 mouse action. ... so yes, definitely all BH in the 1960s. My first trip was in the late 1990s, so that's roughly the period I'm modelling. I was going to model early 70s, but realised 20+ years later that "my" nostalgia period is the turn of this century! I do have loads of photos of BH track though! I was thinking of using code 100 BH rail as that comes out very close to 60lb/yard full size BH. The option of copper clad sleepers is fine for the sections that will be ballasted over the sleepers with lots of weeds but some needs to have chairs.
