... a system on the market. It's interesting but pricey. http://www.copnor.enta.net/FS/TheBouncer.htm I quite like the idea because I couldn't really get my head around the idea of using a Tortoise or Fulgurex motor for a 4mm ground signal. I've experimented with memory wire and like it but it takes up rather a lot of space. Cause for some more experimentation! posted: 25 Nov 2009 06:10 from: Stephen Freeman As far as I can see from his website, The Bouncer gives you just one bounce. Well if you just want it for turnouts, there is the MERG design, I believe the design is freely available along with the software and firmware. but you also have to have all the kit to flash program the chip. The software to do this is free from Microchip but you have to buy the Programmer (Pickit2 possibly- there are others). To buy the kit for Servo4 though, you need to be a member of MERG but if you have no other need for flashing eeproms then membership is ...

... to go with servos in future so I'll be following your progress with interest. Other options like Tortoises have their own drawbacks. I've used servos successfully on a couple of signals, but these don't quite have the same need to get the end points right. Nigel Hello Nigel I'll keep you posted on my progress. My initial experiences with the Megapoints control has been positive and certainly setting the end points has not been difficult with every control board being completely self contained with its own controls built in. The signal control even has bounce built in which varies every time by a small amount so no two returns to danger are the same. Very nice. What I'dont know yet is how it performs in regular use and that concerns me a bit. ... that doesn't really meet the gold standard in terms of definition (although it's probably good enough for many of us.) The HP nylon might have sufficient definition and be strong/flexible, but then painting might be a problem. Also, it ain't cheap I don't think we should be too concerned about making a "universal chair" that will grip any rail. That makes sense if hard tooling is involved, but it's no big deal to create different jaw configurations for particular rail profiles. There are a lot of ideas bouncing around in my head, but it's probably best to wait until we have tested additional samples. Cheers Richard posted: 5 Mar 2008 17:02 from: Brian Lewis This is becoming an increasing problem- particularly with Webfusion, NTLworld and AOL. When anyone uses C+ L's on-line ordering service, they receive an immediate acknowledgement. As soon as the consignment has been shipped, they receive another email, advising of this and stating by what method. Send it to anyone who uses facilities provided by the three mentioned ISPs and they bounce back to us. Apparently they just block in total, messages from any ISP they suspect is harbouring spammers. ... filtering programs are now a bigger menace than the spam. The cure is worse than the disease! Martin. Hi Martin et al I must confess that the penny did not drop when things appeared to go quiet on the Templot Club front- I was not aware of the problem with Demon. Demon's filtering has been very good at dealing with "genuine" spam and so until now I have been very pleased with it. I have not encountered any problems recently with direct emails from Yahoo groups. Very occasionally something triggers the bouncing mechanism but I do not see this as a major problem. I will contact Demon and express my concern that legitimate messages are being intercepted by their filtering service but unfortunately I do not think Demon's current customer service is what it used to be. On the very few occasions since the days of the tenner a month dialup when I have needed to contact Demon the service has been very good- until one Sunday earlier this year when a problem was reported and "not" dealt with by the call centre. I think I understand what you are saying regarding the K crossings, can definitely see how both solutions would result in improved running (much less of a bounce through the gap). However I am not so clear on how it will resolve the more fundamental issue, in that the derailment is being caused at the switch area. Would tightening the gauge to SF standards through the Vee area potentially provide similar improvement here (in that there will be much less slop between wheels and rail, hence less chance of a wheel riding up and over the switch rail?) I don't think there will be any problem with derailment, unless the bounce and impact is very severe. I can only say, that with K angle 0f 1 in 9.11, I personally would opt for a switched crossing, but if you have other issues, then I'm afraid the choice has to be yours, you know your system best. In a Running Line track that pumps has a severe speed restriction imposed on it. (There are some nice Youtube examples of Amtrak trains not just pumping but squirting great gouts of water leaving- I think- Chicago). An alternative to pillowing and loose sleepers is that the whole lot sets like concrete. this is more dangerous than loose track- anything hitting it at speed can bounce off. I have know "concrete" ballast to have to be jack-hammered out a chunk at a time. (It broke the back-hoe digger they tried on it). According to my training the sleeper-wide flat plate under the toe of the point blades is called a sole plate. Note that both the sole plate and the gauge tie bar are not continuous between the rails. Both have an insulated joint in them. this is so that they don't mess up any track circuit in the ...

The problem was intermittent and random, and it seemed no-one else here was seeing a similar problem. To cut a long story short, the problem was with my domain name registrar, TSOhost, who took my domain over from Daily. TSOhost seem to have a bit of a problem with their servers being blocked, in this case by Apple. I was able to find out what was happening as someone had a bounce 24hrs after sending which contained all the relevant header info, which they passed onto me. I've now moved my domain to GoDaddy and all seems well so far- in fact I had a couple of days worth of email backlog all come in at around 5:30 this morning!
