All, I have received a private message via Templot. I cannot see how to print it out. Can anyone advise please? Personally, I would prefer message to be sent in the normal way. Regards Brian Lewis |

One would have thought that you had by now realised that successful business folk faced the marketplace and attuned their products to consumer demand...... What did you do wrong? You have created, or participated in, a system that has no print button. Surely the whole point of computers is that they give access to information that can be printed out in hard copy? And, come to think of it, why does this message writer not have a spelling checker? But do not worry Martin. Hi Brian, I think that the reference to 'Surely the whole point of computers is that they give access to information that can be printed out in hard copy?' is right off the mark. I thought we were supposed to be heading the other way. Less paper.  Anyway another possible way to print out what you want is highlight the text and in the printer options/preferences select print selection. Comment from a not usual retard replying. Don't get me started on your comment about atuning to customer demand. Just look at today's television. How low is it going to go? I think Templot is great and it keeps my mind active. This forum has 800 members and has been running for 3 years. This is the first time anyone has asked for a specific print button for private messages, so it can hardly be the most pressing need. On the rare occasions when I have wanted to print a private message it has been easy enough to copy and paste it somewhere else, as Brian explained. I didn't write this board software. I will mention it to Jim and David, but I doubt they will regard it as very important as I can't recall any other board owner ever requesting such a feature. I could write such a feature myself, as I have made many other mods to the board scripts, but it all takes time and I think I'm better employed at present working on Templot itself. If you can get 5 other members to agree with you that this is important, I will stop what I'm doing and work on this instead.  regards, Martin. |

This particular consumer is quite happy with the state of Templot documentation. I have managed to do everything I need so far with the aid of the tutorials and postings on this forum. Although a new member and Templot user I cannot resist throwing in my own 'sixpen'orth' any longer. Has anyone tried to get a manual for Windows or any Office application in the last 10 year? The most recent MS manual I have is for Excel dated 1993-1994. Even the mighty Bill G's empire has not relied on paper for many years. That has not prevented their dominance of the PC operating system market. I may not like the no manual policy but I have to live with it. Other manuals for their software cost real money from other specialist publishers. If you need to explore the depths of, for example Word, you can go on a one day seminar course, usually with 99 other attendees. The fee for these ranges from £200 per day. Out of a full day you might only get a 2 or 3 pointers on things you did not know about or understand. Much of my work is involved with the European Commission, who publish everything as .pdf and/or .html and do not always get their language or spelling correct despite a vast number of lawyers and others who should be experts in these. You are expected to use these publications and to interpret everything or else you may end up in Court. Try asking for guidance on your specific problems without paying a lawyer. So is Templot good value or not? Surely Martin's efforts to illuminate the depths of Templot should be admired? He seems always to respond to questions clearly and promptly. If at my age I can get into Templot in less than 2 weeks anyone can. Jerry Wray |

It is probably just me John. I fdind it very difficult to scan when reading from a screen, so I tend to print everything out. I see you are in Oz. That seems a sensible idea. In any business, time is the main 'enemy' and spending time on something for which there is no demand is hardly productivity at its best. I am back in front of an Orthopaedic Surgeon tonight and expect him to confirm that I need an operation on my left shoulder. (He operated on the right one in 2004). Also it seems my dalliance with 'Big C', is not over, for it may have sprung up in another place. Tests on Monday should confirm or otherwise. Growing old gracefully? Huh! I'm usign Firefox, and the word preceding "Firefox" has a little red squiggle underneath it to show that it's spelt wrongly (deliberately, in this case!). I can then right-click over the word to give the usual spell checker options. This is all built in to Firefox as standard, and I would assume that Internet Explorer has the same feature, as MS seems to be copying anything that Mozilla do Take care, and hope you'll soon be on the mend. |

Hi pail. I know well that Firefox has a spell checker. What I was saying was that this forum messaging system does not have a spellchceker. And thank you, and Martin, for your kind thoughts. In fact I am just back, via a good Bristol restaurant which as a fromer resident of this area you may know, from the Orthopaedic Surgeon. He is going to reconstruct my shoulder on 6th August.
