After many months of messing around with Templot, lengths of PCB and rail I have now managed to cobble together the track plan for Norwich Station.

This is a long long long term project, and Im starting with something much smaller, (Cromer to be precise) but, I would very much appreciate some feedback on my plan.

I have not "shoved" any timbers yet, and I know I have some rails that are not perfectly lined up, further than that I would like some constructive critism if you would be so kind.

Also while Im about it many thanks for the scissor crossing pdf walkthrough, It was the scissor crossing that started me down this path in the first place.

 Thanks

Jon

EDIT: Ive just noticed that some of the platform straights are missing from the file..... woops.

Hi Jon,

That's an impressive plan. Thanks for uploading it. :thumb:

Unfortunately you have made a serious mistake in having several of the tracks too close together. Trains on one track will hit trains on the other track. For 00 gauge the normal centre-to-centre distance is 50mm. The minimum spacing in accordance with prototype practice to give a running clearance is 44.67mm centres in 4mm/ft scale.

Some of your tracks are only 33mm apart:

You can check the clearances using the spacing-ring tool, or by means of the ruler tool (tools > menu items), as shown above. There are some detailed notes on the spacing-ring dialog if you click the ?help button.

regards,

Martin.

Thanks for that Martin,

I was aware some were a little close, but had not found/worked out/looked for a method of measuring them.

I overlaid the track on to an aireal photo of the station.

I will have a play about with the clearances tonight.

After looking at the clearances, I decided a whole new plan was required.

So for you delictation here is another more complete, more spacious plan of Norwich Station.

As before, Comments, Crtiquies etc.. please from anyone..
