I have been using Templot for about 4 months now and I have a quite fair knowledge on how
to create complete track plans, and I like it very much.

However I haven't seen any tutorials on how to make dual gauge trackwork (standard gauge - narrow gauge crossings, turnouts, straight tracks with dual gauge).
Are there any tutorials and if not, how hard are those to create with Templot?

Thanks
   István

Hi István,

Welcome to Templot Club.

Sorry, no mixed-gauge tutorials, but here is a mixed-gauge crossover (without side-swap) for you to pull apart: :)

Mixed-gauge curved crossover:

GWR broad and standard gauges in P4. Conventional timbering.

Right-click on the link and select Save Target/Link As...
Download: Mixed-gauge curved crossover (for Templot version 078e or later).

(Above printed at 85%.)

Martin, I had a quick go at trying to replicate a dual gauge turnout in 00 and broadgauge. I have 2 problems. On mine the 2 switch blades are 4 sleepers appart, and when I line up 1 crossing the other goes slightly out of allignment (may be due to the switches not being the same length)Any tips please

Hi Hayfield,

The three switchblades in a mixed gauge turnout should be inline square across the track. Each crossing is in a short stretch of straight rail as the common crossing is in a single gauge turnout, this complicates the drawing as you have short straights between the switchblades and final crossing, ie. the closure rail is not a continuous curve. If not already a member I would suggest you join the Broad Gauge Society (http://www.broadgauge.org.uk/membership.html) scroll down to the link for the Membership Secretary. The Data Sheet pack for new members has a lot of detail of things Broad Gauge including track.
Hope this is of help but I'm not sure if this is what you wanted.
Best wishes,

Les.
