How do you construct a template for the following, scissor crossing, double slip and a three way.I've seen the video on how to construct a 3 way but it dosen't tell you how to wipe the sleepers from the centre of the point, this is an earlier than the later version I use . Also the screens and dropdown lists are differant. I didn't use computers at work, simply a computer can't lay bricks. Also computers weren't about when I was at school or when I started work. The only thing I know about computers is what I learnt my self and that's not very much .

Hi Nigel

First it would help to know which version of Templot you are using as some versions have differernt approach to how to get at SHOVE TIMBERS which is where you add or remove sleepers or timbers plus other changes to them.

I would not start on partial templates until you have mastered the more basic elements of Templot, have you worked through the various tutorials? because with this you won't be able to run before you can walk.

Cheers Phil

Thankyou for the reply the version I am using is v:0.91.c.The reason I would like to construct a template for these points is that they save space which I have little of.

I've not done a scissor crossing, so I can't help with that - though I'm sure I've seen the question asked in the forums, so a search my throw some light on it.

For the double slip - find the single slip tutorial. Making it a double is simply a case of repeating the same process, but swapping hand (which I keep forgetting too).

Again, I've never completed a three-way set of points, but in general the way to remove sleepers (or, more accurately I suppose for points, timbers) is to left-click on the appropriate template to get it's menu (the bit you are working on is outlined in white) and then click on "Delete to the control". Then go to "Real->Timbering->No Timbering" on the drop-down menus at the top - clicking this will remove the timbers. Don't forget to "save" it - "store as background" on the "Main" menu.

Don't worry about "knowing about computers", as far as Templot goes all that is required is to learn how to drive Templot! When the penny drops it's a breeze.

Hope that helps some,

Cheers
Richard

Hi Nigel

For shove timbers in 0.91c select the REAL Menu drop down box and SHOVE TIMBERS is the bottom one. you then click on the number adjacent to the timber to manipulate it. IE. remove, lenghten, shorten, twist, etc.

Hi Nigel,
I've just worked through the three-way (tandem) tutorial, and I think I've found your problem. Assuming you mean by the 'timbers in the middle' the ones associated with the third set of points that are added to get the extra V, then I think you have missed a step - the timbers should have been removed using "Real->Timbering->No Timbering" just after the template for this third set was created. It doesn't matter, just do as I suggested above and they will be gone. Then you can use "Real->Shove Timbers", as shown in the video, to sort out the rest.

Cheers
Richard
