Struggling to upgrade my v0.74b. Have followed the link and ended up with the blue screen - "Templot Delivery Pug Version 0.91c". Gone through the Agreement and Destination Folder pages seemingly OK and been told "The Templot files have been succesfully extracted. I've then, as requested, restarted the computer only to find no version 0.91c in the designated location - v0.74b is still there. Been through the cycle many times tonight and I'm sure I'm missing the obvious.
I'm running Windows XP

Hi Keith,

Where is the destination folder? The default is C:\TEMPLOT

Have you ever upgraded by transferring that folder via CD? If so the TemplotZero.exe program file may have been set to Read Only.

To get to that file, right-click on the Templot shortcut icon on the desktop. Click Properties and then the Find Target button (in XP) or Open File Location button (in Windows7).

Then right-click on TemplotZero.exe, click Properties and untick "Read-Only" in the Attributes. Click OK.

Then try installing 091c again.

If you are still struggling, change the extension on the delivery file from .exe to .zip

You should then be able to extract the files with any unzipping program.

Copy these two files into the destination folder:

TemplotZero.exe

TemplotZero.exe.manifest

The first one will replace the one already there. Double-click on it after copying to check that it is now 091c.

By the way, there is no need to restart the computer after upgrading.

regards,

Martin.

Martin

Thanks for that - never thought to look at the properties. Unchecking the "Read only" box sorted the problem out and I now have v 0.91.

Keith

Hi Keith,

Glad it worked. :)

Have you copied or backed up your data via a CD?

Windows has an infuriating habit of marking all files as "read-only" when you put them on a CD (which is fair enough), but then leaving them like that when you copy them back.

You can avoid the problem by copying via a USB memory stick instead of a CD.

It's likely that other files have also been marked read-only, and will cause problems if you don't change them too.

Please go into the C:\TEMPLOT\ folder. Hold down the CTRL key and select all the .txt and .ebk files. Right-click on them and click "Properties" on the pop-up menu. Untick the "Attributes: Read-only" tick box. Click OK.

regards,

Martin.
