I want to show only a few timbers on each of the fiddle yard templates.  Those I've chosen are J2, S1, S2, S6, S9, X1, X3, X4, X5 & X9.  I've tried copying these by rebuilding a group with 'modify on rebuild > timbering + lengths as current' but the omitted timbers are not omitted on the rebuilt timbers.  Is there an easy way to do it without shoving timbers in 50+ templates?

thanks,

Hi Richard,

Sorry, there is no way to transfer shove timber data to an existing background template.

Had you set the tools > make tools: options > retain shoved timbers option while designing your fiddle yard, any timber shoving on the first template would have been transferred to each subsequent one as you created it.

I will look at adding this to the modify on rebuild function for retrospective changes. It won't be easy because each background template may already have some timber shoving of its own.

In the meantime the best I can suggest is that you go to real > timbering > timbering data... and change the fill timber spacing to a very large figure, say 5000 inches.

If you then do modify on rebuild, this will remove all the T timbers bar two from each template, regardless of any timber shoving.

regards,

Martin.

Thanks, I'd already got the timbers spaced at a scale 15'.  It was only after the first turnout was built from a template that I realised I needed to remove all the unnecessary timbering.  If I'd been building them myself it wouldn't be necessary, but the builder builds exactly as per the drawing he is given.
