Hi peeps Just looking for a tad of assistance. What I want to do is insert a turnout into the track on the right. Simple enough you say... well not this one I want to have the turnout straight road connecting to that new track at the bottom of the pic, thereby requiring the turnout road to be inserted into the current track flow. I want to do this as it will be a future mainline to further industries up my branch when I get more room to expand this section of the layout. Can I do what I am asking? Any tricks up anyone's sleeves if I can't "officially" do it? 632_221854_460000000.png Any help would be very appreciated. Cheers Bruce |

Bruce, Maybe I am misreading your question but can you not put the Notch on the end of the track you have at the bottom right, make a new template with a peg on the desired join and 'Move peg onto notch'. Or is it more than that you want ? Rob |

Hi Bruce, See this video for the "toy train" solution: http://www.templot.com/martweb/videos/subs_rad.exe However, matters are made rather more complicated by the presence of the transition zone where you want to insert the turnout. To suggest more I need to see more of that track. What and where does it connect to, above your screenshot? The best solution is probably to place a turnout and make the connections, and then do "make transition" further north to link existing tracks. But you didn't show that bit, so I can't advise. When you say you want the "straight" road to connect to the lower track, do you mean the main road of a curved turnout? Or is it essential that the main road is dead straight? Is the lower track in a fixed position, or can it move a mm or two if necessary? regards, Martin. |

Hi Bruce, It's a bit late here to make a video now (3am), so here's a quick sketch: 2_222156_530000000.png a. make a new S-curve transition between the existing curve at 1 and the new outer track at 2. b. insert a turnout in it. This is a right-hand turnout because you wanted the main road to go to the new track at 2. c. adjust the size of the turnout (F5) to suit your requirements (this is 1:9 as drawn there) and set do > turnout road > long. d. roam it along (CTRL+F9) until the turnout road rails are just shy of the existing track at 3. Reset do > turnout road > normal. e. make branch track at 3, F6 if necessary to get the rails very close but not overlapping, and then make transition to the existing turnout exit track. A bit of trial and error may be needed to keep the transition zone clear of the existing turnout. Adjust the boundaries as required to just link the two turnouts, and delete the original tracks. If that's not clear, I'll do a bit of video tomorrow. Assuming the above is actually what you wanted, of course? The turnout is nearly all in the transition zone, but needs must if you are tight for space. regards, Martin. |
