Hi Martin, not a bug as such, but had to chuckle when I looked up at the screen a few minutes ago.... 479_260758_150000000.jpg ![]() |

Your coloured tracks make it look even more dramatic! It is caused by the transition curve being too "gentle" for the maths capability of your processor. In other words the radius changes by too little in too long a transition length. If you look at the transition radii there you will see 2053 - 2020mm radii -- a difference of less than 2%. When you get this effect you can be fairly sure that you are using a transition curve unnecessarily, and that a fixed radius curve would do just as well. Sometimes this effect flashes up while doing F6 on a transition curve template when the two radii have become momentarily similar. Interestingly, when I first investigated this effect I found that Intel (Pentium) processors produced a significantly worse result than AMD (Athlon) processors for the same radii settings. I haven't checked this for several years now -- the latest processors may be different. I tried a few times to prevent this happening -- there is a setting in the expert settings called max spiral for this purpose, although Max has never worked properly and is due for the sack. ![]() Thanks for posting it. ![]() regards, Martin. |

Thanks Martin. I'd never seen it before and of course, it wasn't a problem. I thought I was imagining it at first and had to move the mouse very slowly across the page on the F6 command to find it again. A fraction either way and it disappeared. Had to take a pic just for the record... My processor is an AMD 64x2 Dual Core. 3800+, 2.00GHz with 3.25GB RAM Just playing around this afternoon with a simplified version of Eastwood.... ![]() ![]() |
