Dear all, I'm looking for some help. I would be interested to know if Windows 7 displays child windows in the same colour regardless of any aero or theme settings. Searching the Microsoft site has proved fruitless. If you are using Templot 091c on Windows 7 or Vista I would be grateful if you could take a screenshot of the zoom dialog and post it here, similar to the one below. Please post it in full-colour PNG or BMP format only, and as an attachment only (not using the Image Gallery buttons). Please also say Vista or Windows 7. Many thanks for your help. Martin. |

Hi Martin This is off my 32 bit Vista laptop, which doesn't do Aero! I can do a grab off my Win7 PC in a couple of days or so, if that isn't too late. (re-arranging partitions just now - slow!) Cheers |

Many thanks to everyone who posted screenshots. It has confirmed my own tests -- Windows 7 uses the same arbitrary #D7E3F1 solid colour for all child window borders regardless of any other themes or colour settings. Which is a bit surprising after all the blather about the Aero interface and transparency effects. However, it means that I have been able to tighten up the dialogs a little to save screen space and reduce the ugly wide borders. See below. I didn't want to do that without checking that it would look OK on all systems, so thanks again for your help. It's not going to look too good on Windows XP, but we have to move on and accept whatever Microsoft decides is good for us. The top corner closing X is still too far in from the corner, but I can't do anything about that. The other surprising thing is that I can't find any similar-looking dialogs in other software -- admittedly I haven't installed many programs on my Windows 7 system. Anyone? p.s. there is no need to post any more screenshots, unless yours looks significantly different to the previous ones. Thanks again to all. regards, Martin. |
