This arose out of the TDV discussion, but it's not really connected to that so I've started a new topic. I entered Emailed Messages under my account to ensure that I received messages from the Development doings forum, and was a bit puzzled as to my existing settings. From experience I assumed I was getting all messages as they were posted. However, my settings are as follows:- All forums are unticked The tick/untick all forums box is unticked The from forums ticked action setting is set to daily digests My interpretation of these settings is that I shouldn't be getting any emails, and if I did they should be in the form of daily digests. Puzzled! Wonder if the fact I've never altered any of these settings (didn't know they existed to be honest!) has anything to do with it. I'm unsure as to whether I'm getting messages from Development doings, but I'm certainly getting most messages. Before I actually alter anything (my inclination would be to tick everything and set the email setting to receive emails as they are posted), just thought I'd check to see if any light can be shed on this. Cheers Nigel |

If you are receiving emails and haven't ticked the Emailed Messages boxes, you must be getting the emails via Yahoo. At the bottom of Yahoo emails it says: "This is a message from the Templot Club user forums at http://85a.co.uk/forum You received it via the Templot email group on Yahoo." If you change to direct emails you need to change to "web only" on your Yahoo group settings, otherwise you will get everything twice. See: message 9244 In addition, you may be receiving "notification emails" from Templot Club. These don't contain the actual message content, they merely advise you that a new message has been posted in a topic which you are "watching". The settings for these emails are under My Account > Watched Topics, and there is a button at the bottom of every topic page labelled Watch Topic to begin receiving notifications from that topic. regards, Martin. |

Hi Martin Thanks for explaining it. I am on the Templot Yahoo user group and that's how I would be getting the messages. Just one minor thing; I don't get the "This is a message from the Templot Club user forums at http://85a.co.uk/forum You received it via the Templot email group on Yahoo." at the bottom of the message. Cheers Nigel |

Perhaps it depends whether you have set to receive Yahoo emails in "Traditional" format or "Full Featured", or whether you read your emails in an email client or online as webmail. I will do a bit of digging. regards, Martin. |
