Hi all

Apologies for this simple but very O/T question. Are SATA 150 and 300 fully compatible?

I have a motherboard with a SATA 150 controller which drives a now failing SATA 150 disc. Current SATA discs all seem to be SATA 300. So can I just plug in a SATA 300 disc? I'd be surprised if you can't, but thought I'd consult the pool of experience on this list first.

cheers
Nigel

Hi Nigel

In theory the answer is yes and most drives have a 150 limit jumper on them in case you have problems, but like all computer parts, you never know till you try it.

Cheers

Matt

I Have two Sata 300s running on two 150s.  So far no problems.
