Hi Martin, Probably a really simple query, but can I move a group of templates to optimise how it prints out when restricted to A4? ie minimum number with turnouts on a single sheet many thanks Richard |

You can either 1. move the page origin and page outlines -- SHIFT+CTRL+F10 mouse action (action > mouse actions: pad > move page origin). This is the simplest and quickest way to optimize the templates within the page outlines. or 2. move the templates on the grid. If you have designed your track plan to fit a known baseboard or location you may not want to change its position on the grid. In which case moving the page origin is probably better, although in that case you can't do any rotation. You can easily shift or rotate an entire track plan or a group of templates to a new position on the grid. You can shift or rotate them visually by mouse action, or enter the actual amounts to be shifted or rotated by: 2_292257_310000000.png  There are two quick single-key shortcuts for the mouse actions, back slash \ key for shift group, forward slash / for rotate group. When rotating, the centre of rotation is the current notch position, so you may want to change that first (typically by putting the notch under one of the templates, using the peg/align tools > options). Note that you can't easily undo a group shift or rotate, so it's a good idea to save a file first, in case you change your mind or need to restore the current track plan at some time. Note also that you can change from the staggered "brick-bond" page outlines to plain tiled, and/or change from end-run to side-run (i.e. portrait/landscape -- but please don't start the argument all over again about which should be called which ), and/or change the page dimensions between the trim margins.All this is at print > page orientation/origin > and at print > trim margins > menu options. regards, Martin. |
