Hi Martin,

I’m not quite sure if this clitch is a fault in the TDV, but thought it best to report it, as I have had the problem happen twice before and again a little earlier today.

What happens is, that when I use F5 to adjust the turnout side of a switch, it occasionally causes the switch settings to jump to another setting, in my case the switch jumped from a 9ft to an 18ft when I moved the mouse to adjust.

Now the process was to select F5, then
          Select length free, then,
          Select switch locked, then
To move the mouse to adjust.

I then did the same again to adjust in the other direction, and found when I moved the mouse on this occasion, the switch had changed setting to 18ft.

All the mouse movements were done slowly so as not to over-adjust.

Now I know I could have done the turnout adjustment by using F9, but I wanted to stay at the 0.25 RAM increments for convenience.

This of course is not a catastrophic problem, as one can simply go to the menu and re-select to original switch setting to recover.

All the best,

Brian Nicholls.

Hi Brian,

It is intended to do that. :)

That is the whole point and purpose of F5 -- to adjust the turnout size while keeping the switch length and crossing angle to a reasonably prototypical matching pair.

Now I know I could have done the turnout adjustment by using F9, but I wanted to stay at the 0.25 RAM increments for convenience.
Just change the setting at: action > F9  V-crossing angle options > snap F9 to 1/4 RAM steps

So far I've left the option to lock the switch on F5 for legacy reasons, but it is not really needed now that F9 can be used as above. I may change my mind and remove it to avoid confusion.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

Many thanks for the speedy reply.

I am now aware of using F5 with care, it did catch me out at the time since I never got the symptom using 0.91c, but in future will now resort to using the new F9 feature instead.

Thanks again, glad it’s not more work for you in trying to solve another bug. :)

All the best,

Brian Nicholls.
