Here is a source of high-resolution scans of 25" OS maps. Ideal as background scans for use in Templot picture shapes. (For 25" the scale is 1:2500). They are on CD which saves the hassle of scanning paper maps, although they are not cheap: http://digitalarchives.co.uk Here is an interactive sample. Click the + symbol to zoom in, drag the map to move around: http://digitalarchives.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=80&Itemid=84 Thanks to Howard Sprenger for the links. Martin. Pedant mode on! A 25" map is actually 1:2534.4 The modern OS maps are 1:2500, however the map projection changed from the old county series maps to the new OS mapping post WW2. So a simple 2534.4/2500 enlargement doesn’t quite work over long distances either. Pedant mode off! Regards Alan |
