Hi Martin,
With the previous dev version, I got this result from someone who tried to print a dxf version that I had exported from Templot. I this a known problem?
Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark,

If you are in a country which uses a comma as a decimal separator (decimal point), please delete all DXF files created with any version of Templot prior to TDV build # 4435.

There was a bug in the DXF generator -- the Windows Regional Setting for the decimal separator character was used in the DXF file.

In TDV # 4435 and later, a dot (full stop, period) is used in all cases regardless of the Windows Regional Setting.

Well, I'm calling it a bug. :?  Actually I can't find it fully documented anywhere, but clearly many CAD programs will not import DXF files correctly if they contain a comma as the decimal separator.

This is what is causing the strange rounding effects in your print.

Please re-export the DXF using TDV build # 4435 or later and all will be well. Download from:

Just to repeat for everyone -- this problem applies only if you are in a country which uses a comma as a decimal point (and assuming you have set your computer accordingly).

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,
Another thing I am missing is the grid, which can be very useful on occasion. Is there a way to have this plotted, too, or am I out of luck here?
Best regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,

The grid isn't included in the DXF output because normally you would have a grid available in the CAD program into which you will be importing the DXF file.

If it's important to have a grid in the DXF, you could add the grid lines manually as lines in the background shapes. It would be a bit tedious but doable. Save them as a BGS file so that you can add the same grid lines to other track plans at any time. (You could perhaps create the grid lines more quickly as an array in your CAD program, export them as DXF and import that file into the background shapes.)

Instead of DXF, you can include the grid in exported EMF metafiles, and most CAD programs will import metafile image files. That's at output > export a file > create metafile... button. You would probably need to adjust the scaling after import into CAD, which is not necessary with DXF of course. Make a note of the metafile resolution (600 dpi default) to help with this.

regards,

Martin.
