Is there a way to get Templot to show the total length of the timbering in a switch? It's easy to work out from plain track how much copperclad you need to buy, but switches are different with varying lengths etc, compounded when you have a crossover with timbering spreading across from one switch to another etc .... | ||

RedgateModels wrote: Is there a way to get Templot to show the total length of the timbering in a turnout?Hi Ian, At present sorry no, but I will try to add it in the next TDV update. But you will need to ask me to make you purple first... In practice, when I was building pointwork to order, it was simple enough -- count the turnout timbers and multiply by 50mm for 4mm scale, or by 90mm for 7mm scale. The result is close enough, and you need to allow for some wastage anyway. If one turnout has some extra long timbers in a crossover, it is usually cancelled out by another one needing fewer timbers. In TDV you can already see the total overall length of the templates -- on the storage box click the box > box info menu item. regards, Martin. |
