Hi Martin,

installed the TDV last night, so here's my first twopennyworth. Can the startup be made more intelligent so that if you run up by opening a saved .box file it does not prompt you to load the previous session etc? From a user point of view the decision has already been made what file is required, any further prompts should be unnecessary?

Oh and the total timbering seems to be working okay, Fourgig East came out at a shade over 33m of timbering which equates to approx 5 packs of Marcway pcb. My original estimates were 3 packs of 6mm and 1 pack of 7mm. As I'd already bought 2 packs when I started the project it seems to be on track, so to speak.

Hi Ian,

The problem there is that the previous session may not have been saved. By starting with the option to reload it, the user gets an opportunity to save it before loading the new file.

You can say "no thanks" with a single dab on the ESC key, so it is hardly a significant impediment to getting started.

Then dab the ENTER key to load the new file and off you go. :)

Over the years there have often been complaints about the start-up sequence. I never could understand it, because compared with two or three hours using Templot and the likely hundreds of mouse clicks and key presses, 5 seconds and a few clicks to get started seems hardly here or there. And if you are starting normally from the icon, all you need to do is hold down the ENTER key for a second or two.

I have done my best to reduce the start-up to a minimum in TDV, but I don't think I can go any further without losing essential functionality.

regards,

Martin.
