Having recently been volunteered to do the plans for a layout, (both buildings and track), I managed to put together the first rough draft this week after a delay due updating both the Apple and Windows OS. Running the current version of Templot in Windows 7 on Apple bootcamp. (Martin, I'm liking this version a lot) It was saved as a one sheet 1000 mm x 9000 mm pdf. (Using a firm that prints architectural plans). Templot says it has saved correctly, and the Templot preview looks good but when opened in Adobe all I get is a blank page. Have transferred the pdf file to the Apple OS side of the computer and it is the same, though Apple's "Preview" showed the templates perfectly so the information is there, but… I will throw it through the printer tomorrow Australian time and see what happens and post the result, in the meantime maybe someone can shed some light? Regards, Matt M. |

Matt M. wrote:It was saved as a one sheet 1000 mm x 9000 mm pdf.Hi Matt, Adobe Reader won't accept pages greater than about 200" or 5000mm long. The actual limit seems to vary with different versions. Instead, use Foxit Reader or Nitro Reader, both free downloads, to see larger pages. I tend to prefer the Nitro reader for viewing PDFs. http://www.nitroreader.com http://www.foxitsoftware.com/Secure_PDF_Reader/ If you are using a local print shop, you need to ask them which software they use. If they can use only Adobe, you will need to reduce the PDF page size and print your plan in 2 or 3 pages. Also, make sure they turn any page scaling off. regards, Martin. |

HI Martin. Thanks for the advice. Nitro worked perfectly, though I did notice that at 100% the display reproduction on the computer was undersize. I did a version in two 4550 x 1000 just in case and yes, they only use Adobe. The larger banner printer had reached the end of its life, and so had gone. I could have it done in the plotter for $440. Or the small banner printer (max width 850mm) for $80. Thought the $440 a little much for a rough draft, so came home and redid it as four sheets of 500 x 4550. Finding 30' to unroll it in the house is a problem and I can only survey 9000 x 500 at a time. Fabulous though. When some final decisions are made I'll do the alterations and then detail appropriately as possible in accordance with NSWGR practice. Regards, Matt |
