Dear all, Has anyone tried one of these: http://www.cricut.com Available in the UK from: http://www.graphicus.co.uk/prodpage.asp?ProdID=1994 and possibly elsewhere. How does it work? How thick will it cut? Track templates? Thin card? 1/32" ply timbers? Plastikard™? regards, Martin. |

Martin Wynne wrote: Dear all, Hello Martin, With vinyl cutting machines, the rigidity of the cutting knife is the secret. Some brands claim to able to cut to a depth of 4-5mm, a guarantee that is not acheived. A maximun of 2-3mm is generally considered the thickest that can be used. As in all things, price is the guide to cutting quality. regards Tim Morrow |

Martin, We purchased a version of one of the cutters a year or so ago now for my work place, and it's remained just out the box with software installed, the blade doesn't seem to be that chunky and would best do 180gsm at a push I'd say. Our craft team have been saying for an age now they would fire it up and see how it would get on, I suppose I must make time myself and have a play. Regards Ian |
