Hi I have created a 1:5.25 symetrical 3 way turnout which I needed one set of blades tips to be 30" (one timber spacing ) behind (shorter) than the others, I did this by having one turnout with B semi curved switch and the other turnout with 12' loosed heeled switch, the difference between the blades tips being 9.911mm (29.7" ) Having succesfully done it at an angle of 1:5.25, I needed to create another symetrical 3 way with crossing angles of 1:7, doing it the same way as I have done for the 1:5.25 fails to work the point blades are only 0.86mm shorter I understand that I could do a custom version of the 12' loosed heeled switch by shortening the blades by 30" to give the results that I need Its just that I cant understand why it is different doing it on a 1:7 compared to the 1:5.25 I created the 1:5.25 by doing the following Mint new B 1:5.25 turnout semi curved switch Remove timbers Store and background Copy to control Swap Hand Move peg to fine point Change switch to 12' loose heeled Store and background Still work to be done before completion Geoff Cook |

Hi Geoff. The reason that does not work is that you are relying on the difference in lead lengths resulting from changing from semi-curved to straight-cut switches and this is much smaller with the 1:7 crossing angle. Assuming a straight main road and make sure the peg is on either Ctrl 0 or 1 position. A better way to stagger the switch blades is to take your first template and (Ctrl O) remove the main road crossing rail, main road check rail and stock rail then store and background. Right click the mouse and unhide the control template. Swap hand then store and background. Unhide again then remove timbering, (Ctrl O) remove all rails except the main-crossing road, blank up to crossing, store and background, unhide then swap hand, store and background. Unhide again, cancel blanking, snap to switch heel, F9 (shift F9 in TDV) slide through peg the spacing of one timber then F4 adjust length to join up to the crossing rail. Store and background, unhide swap hand and store and background. Hopefully the result should end up as below. Tony. |

pjackman wrote: I can't get "Symetrical 3 throw.box" to open in Templot 2.05DHi, Thanks for reporting this. Tony seems to have got his files muddled up. Although that file had a .box extension it was actually a Word file containing some private correspondence. I have therefore deleted it. Tony, can you find the right file and upload again? Strange that it was apparently downloaded 55 times over several months without any one reporting this until now. regards, Martin. |

Now there's one of lifes great mysteries, just how a box file can change into a text file. Aren't computers wonderful. Hopefully this time it will work. This box file is in version 0.91c but loads into version 2 as I have just tried it, You may need to move the control template out of the way though. Tony. |
