Hi,

I've created a background shape from a scanned prototype track plan. On creation the background shape is fine with black outlines on a white background which I then save as a .bgs file. Unfortunately when I re-load the .bgs file the white background is a different colour. On the first occasion the .bgs was re-loaded as black outline on midnight blue background. After trying to resolve this without success I decided to re-create the .bgs from scratch in case it was something I'd missed the first time. Same result second time except the background colour was magenta (better than midnight blue but still difficult to work with).

Apologies if this has been covered already.

regards

Dave

Hi Dave,

I can't explain the different colours you mention, it must be something on your graphics card.

BGS files do not include the picture shape images, only their size and position, so I can't see your image. Please can you attach the image separately?

If you are using Templot2 you will find the image as an SK8 file in the same folder as your BGS file.

For earlier versions of Templot, you should have saved the image as a BMP file in that folder. If the file is too large to attach (5MB max), please ZIP it.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your response. I attach the three files in question.

About six months ago I created a .bgs from the same bmp file using V0.91. As I recall the colours were ok but I may only have worked on it immediately after creation not saved it, quit and subsequently gone back to it which is what I've done here.

regards

Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for posting your file. :thumb:

I'm seeing the same in Templot2. There is a problem with 1-bit monochrome bitmaps.

Now that Templot can handle PNG files I recommend that file format for all images and in 8-bit (256-colour) format.

I've attached your file converted to 8-bit PNG. If you use that for your picture shape you should have no problems.

Many thanks for reporting this. :)

I will get it fixed.

regards,

Martin.

p.s. right click and Save Link As.. to download it.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for that. I've downloaded the .png file and saved it in the SHAPES directory but haven't got time to have a look at it tonight.

regards

Dave

Fixed in the next TDV update.

1-bit and 4-bit picture shape bitmaps will be converted to 8-bit on loading.

Thanks again Dave.

Martin.
