Hi folks
I've managed to generate and print simple LH & RH 7mm scale 31.5mm gauge(O-MF) turnout templates, but how on earth do I generate a symmetrical Y turnout with a crossing angle of 1 in 2?I've looked through the tutorials and forums but being a complete computer novice they left me more confused than when I started! Can anyone please tell me how I can generate this template?

Thanks in advance
Tim

Hi Tim

As others will no doubt confirm the prototype railway did not use symmetrical turnouts - these are really the invention of model railway manufacturers. You may be better to think in terms of a turnout with a curved main road.

Do you really want a turnout with a crossing angle of 1 in 2?

The radius of the curves would be very small - a quick play with Templot gives a radius of about 9 inches for a straight turnout and goes up to about 12 inches for a curved main road - not very realistic for 7mm scale!

Regards.

Hi Bill
Thankyou for your reply, your're quite right the crossing angle and the track radii are too tight. This is why I wanted to generate a template to see if it would work or not.So it's back to the drawing board.
Cheers
Tim
