I am just putting together a layout, part of which is a Terminus with a branch line. The area I need some help with is the Down Goods crossover seen on the right of the track plan. I have to tidy up the sleepers and check rails but any comments would be helpful. Thank you Peter |

Hello Peter. I presume you are concerned about the radius of the crossover road. You have two options to improve this. The first is to move the crossover to the left and bring it onto the straight, this will however shorten the track plan to the left of it. The other option is to use a much longer turnout for template 28 and adjust the crossover road to suit. Tony. |

Tony W wrote: Hello Peter. Hi Tony, Thanks for your reply. I meant to come back to this thread and clarify what it was that I was seeking comments on. I realised that my posting was NOT at all clear. The crossover was created by joining a transition reverse curve between turnouts 25 and 26. I then created the two curviform crossings. The minimum radii in the transition reverse curve is 39.4" with the minimum radius in turnouts is 28.7" (turnout 25). I was keen to find out if I had constructed the loop line correctly, whether there would be any problems in building this part of the track plan or if anyone could suggest improvements. Your suggestion in moving turnout 26 further down the goods line towards the station is a good one. This could ease the radius at turnout 25. Please note that there is a baseboard joint between turnout 25 and the first crossing. |
