Good afternoon,

First post here, and just thought I'd introduce myself.

I returned to modelling a few years back and earlier in the year decided to move to P4.  Recent months have been spent reading and starting a few stock conversions etc, but now is the time to get on and build some track work as I'm at the point where I need to run some stock etc.  My interests are firmly in the diesel era, and specifically the late BR years (late 80's, early 90's), and I am focusing my modelling on the South Wales freight scene for the most part.

Having built the obligatory bits of plain track and so on (utilising C&L components for now) I am ready to get a short 'plank' up and running, and to that end I have started with Templot.  The main objective is to get a little more experience with building trackwork and to have something on which to test the stock.  To that end I have put together the attached plan, which requires a bit of tidying of the timbers at least.  But hopefully it will be sufficient as a test plan and provide the opportunity for a little shunting.  In due course a short fiddle yard will be added to provide an entry into the sidings from the upper left (the board for this is ready to go in the garage).  I intend to carry on using the C&L bits and their turnout kits for this small project. I have added a bit of 'curve' to these turnouts in the hope that this will make things flow a little more and I plan on building the whole lot on Templot templates (as opposed to those provided by C&L).

Comments gratefully recieved, and the meantime I hope I've uploaded the correct file! (if not, I'd be grateful if someone could let me know)

Nick

Hi Nick

Welcome to Templot. Your track plan does not look to taxing for a first go at Temploting or turnout construction. Have fun and if you get stuck there's plenty of help on here. I think that most of us start from the Vee and work outwards, as this is the critical bit followed by the check / guard rails gauged from the Vee the stock rails will take care of themselves with a three point gauge.

Good Luck Phil

Thanks Phil,

Yes, not too taxing, that's the plan. Hopefully not too much to slip up on at this stage, but, doubtless posts for help in the future will follow!

Nick
