Hi Martin,

I would like to ask you for your permission to allow me to include the image shown below, in a Help Guide document I am writing at this time, which I hope will be posted shortly on the Templot Club.

Please be advised, I am only intending to publish the document on the Templot Club forum, and nowhere else.

I was not quite sure if this is the right place for this request, but if there is any problem with this, then if you would kindly either PM me on Templot Club, or reply by my private email address.

I await your decision.

All the best,

Brian Nicholls.

Hi Brian,

Sure. But please use the original size image, so that the GIF transparency displays properly:

Please also add my copyright credit as above, unless it is going to appear on this web site and nowhere else.

I would be grateful for a sight of your document before you post it. It makes it so much easier to amend any small inaccuracies before you post it rather than after.

As I don't know what's in it I can't be sure, but you may want to wait until after the next program update. I have changed some of the trackpad tool-buttons and added additional beginner buttons, and the Quick Mode option is now hidden away from beginners. The background shapes dialog has been re-worked and some additional functions added for picture shapes. Plus other changes.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

Many thanks for the permission to use the image.

I had intended to add the appropriate copyright credit, such as:

“ Included by kind permission of Martin Wynne”

And will do so, but omitted to mention it in my original request, apologise for that.
I will also use the image as you have posted, which includes the copyright credit within the image.

The image, when used, I shall guarantee, will display properly in the document.

Regarding your previewing the document, That would be most welcome, however, can you tell me how to send it to you, since your limitation of private emails, and your personal PMs ?

Finally, I’m not sure that any of the proposed changes, other than perhaps possibly, the change in the tool buttons, will affect the operations laid down in the document as is, I can say however, that changes to the Quick Mode option, and background shapes and pictures, will have no effect on the document.

As a brief synopsis, I am writing (and it’s almost finished) a help guide on how to construct a curved scissors crossover, but in very detailed form, which contains every little ‘baby’ step on how and what you exactly need to do to produce an accurately constructed curved scissors crossing.

Now this document, is aimed at the beginner and novice user of Templot2 (and perhaps those club members that have never made a curved scissors formation before  :)), the down side is, that the document is quite large (many pages long), this is because, as I have already mentioned, it explains in detail every single step (instruction) needed to make the formation, and also because the document contains a considerable number of screenshot illustrations, suitable post processed and marked up with appropriate information, showing just about every significant point at each instruction operation, hence a very large number of pages.

The document will of course, be finally posted in PDF format, which will reduce the actual file size down to a manageable size, but I am concerned that for printing out it may be a little large.

I decided to have a go at such a form of document, because I hope it will give some encouragement to the beginner and novice (and perhaps others :)) by explaining the process in such a way as never been done before (takes too much time and patience to do this way), but I think that anyone should be able to follow the step by step instructions without problem and produce a very accurate curved scissors crossing formation template.
Also once the beginner or novice (and others :)) has gone though the process a couple of times or so, it will give them more confidence in the use of some of the facilities (operations) available in Templot2, and perhaps try their own experiments at other more complex formations.

Bye the way Martin, I promised Len Cattley I would do this for him and others a couple of weeks ago, so I’m trying to keep my promise , see Templot Club posting:

topic 2056

Well that’s it in a nutshell Martin, please let me know how I can send the proof document to you.

All the best,

Brian Nicholls.

Hi Brian,

That's a bit over the top. :)

Just  © Martin Wynne in small grey text is fine. By the way, it's not included in that image.

My preference against email/PM etc applies only to asking for help with Templot that way. You can of course write to me and send me anything, to

 martin@templot.com

the only proviso being that the normal rules of courtesy don't necessarily apply. I'm sorry I can't guarantee to reply, but usually do.

regards,

Martin.

Hi Martin,

I personally don’t think so, full credit where credit is due, and well deserved in this case I might add. :thumb:

Regarding the document proofing, I will email you a draft copy, when completed, as an attachment to an email, and the attachment will be in PDF format due to the size of the original drafted Word document.
Any corrections you find and deem in need of changes, then just refer to the individual step number in the text and say briefly what in your opinion needs to change, and the rest is up to me, with my grateful thanks.

If you are averse to sending me a (courtesy) reply email, then just add, when convenient, a reply posting in this current topic, containing the basic information, and I should be made aware of it in the usual normal way of any replies to any of my postings, if that helps.

If in the event, you are not able to reply regarding the proofing of the document, due the fact that the document is large in size, or perhaps, to your workload or other important considerations, then what in your opinion would be a reasonable time to wait, after my sending you the proof draft, before my posting the document on the Templot Club, un-proofed by yourself ?

Sorry to throw this back at you, just trying to cover all the bases. :)

All the best,

Brian Nicholls.
