Hi Martin,

Just a couple of things I would like to see in future, but they may be personal preferences only.

Firstly, would it be possible to switch off the radial end markers via the nice dialog box you created for output options?

Secondly, when adding a platform to the turnout side of a parallel crossing, would it be possible for it to follow the turnout road rather than the turnout side of the main route?

I also noticed that you cleaned a bug when creating version 2: where changing a crossing from parallel to, say normal, left the rails but not the sleepers of the branch track in place. I know it was a bug, but I found it useful!

Hi Simon,

At present they can be removed by deselecting them in the generator and then doing a rebuild.

I will look to include them in the output options, but I'm wondering why you want to do that? It's useful to know where each radius section begins and ends when building the track.

Secondly, when adding a platform to the turnout side of a parallel crossing, would it be possible for it to follow the turnout road rather than the turnout side of the main route?
That's a tricky one, because if I adjust it to follow the loop track it will be wrong for any approach track on the same template. The platform edge can only parallel the main road, it can't follow the turnout road. What you can do is manually change the front edge spacing accordingly. Increase it by the current track spacing, which by default for 6ft way is 11ft-2in = 134". Templot will even do the arithmetic for you :), just enter #134 to increase the existing dimension showing, which by default is 28.75", and the result is 162.75" :

Alternatively you could simply create double-track as a plain track centre-line-only dummy template, and add the platform to that instead. If you want the platform to follow the turnout road through the turnout, the only way is to overlay some plain track centre-line-only dummy templates for the purpose.

I also noticed that you cleaned a bug when creating version 2: where changing a crossing from parallel to, say normal, left the rails but not the sleepers of the branch track in place. I know it was a bug, but I found it useful!
You can still have that for any crossing -- click the do > turnout road > long menu item. :)

regards,

Martin.

Hi Simon,

Regarding your second point about platforms, what I do is to get a plain curving track and overlay it, as closely as possible, along the turnout road, then put in the platform, and then remove all the rails and markers, including the track centre line, of the plain curved track, so only the platform is left showing. There will be no trace, other then in the storage box of the overlaid plain track.  See image below.

All the best,

Brian Nicholls.

Thanks Martin.

To explain, these are very useful when printing out the full size template(s), but if I am a doing a smaller scale printout, then the only option (until now) was to make the markers white.

Thanks for the suggestions on adding a turnout-side platform for parallel points, all: I already do this of course, and my request was pure laziness on my part!

Re do > turnout road > long,
Thanks for pointing that out: very useful!

TVM,

Simon
