My apologies if this has already been raised before but I am having trouble trying to find some track plans from some time ago. this is my tale and I hope some knowledgable soul may be able to help and point me in the right direction.
I bought Templot a few years ago, plugged away at it and managed to complete a couple of track plans placing them in my storage box. Having achieved the plans I printed one out and put it away for another day in anticipation of making a start on track laying.  Regrettably that didn't happen, the track plan looked a bit dog-eared when I found it with some bits missing, in the interim I had also changed my computer.
Once again my thoughts turned to the old track plan and I went to the Templot Website. I had not visited templot for many months, possibly years. All had changed, Templot 2 was now the software and so I downloaded it, as with all software that you do not use very often, I was very rusty and I realised I would need to get back into things.  I looked in the storage box but there was nothing there,  but I suppose because of the new download and the new computer it would not recognise me anyway.
My question - is there any way that I can get back to my orginal storage box or is my only option to re-draw my track plan.

Hi,

Assuming you are using the default locations, your current storage box files are in the C:\TEMPLOT_DEV\BOX-FILES\ folder.

Your previous storage box files were in the C:\TEMPLOT\BOX-FILES\ folder, so you need to navigate back to there in the file load dialog.

That assumes of course that you are still using the same computer, or all your files were copied from your old computer when you changed it.

If not, you will need to go back to the old computer, and copy the files on to a CD or USB memory stick to transfer them to your current computer.

regards,

Martin.

Hello Martin,
Very many thanks for your prompt and helpful reply, I don't think I did copy the contents from my old computer but I may have it on my laptop which I still own.  I will have to look into this. Once again many thanks.
Regards, Mal

For a variety of other reasons, I have a dropbox account (other online storage facilities are available) and some time ago I copied over all of my box files (I have several hundred, but let's not go there!) I have found this useful, having moved from a pc to a Mac, and from Parallels to Crossover. It also means that were I to be elsewhere with access to Templot, e.g. a friend's house (I do have some) then I can access the files.

That reminds me to update the file store...

I'll have to whisper this quietly, but I have Templot and Templot2 installed into my SkyDrive folder so anything I do automatically gets backed up to the cloud without any further intervention on my part.  That's a service that's well worth making use of.  I've also used this site for backups but completely forgot about that until now :D

I do realise that if I see anything strange happening with Templot, that I'm on my own because of where it's installed but it seems to be fine there!

Hi Paul,

You're not on your own. :)

I will always try to support Templot wherever you install it, except in the Windows \Program Files\  folders. You are not doing that, so you're fine.

Martin.
